The Ultimate Abdominal Exercise?

Ab Rocket, does it help you get that sexy abs?

Have you seen those late night infomercials advertising a device called the Ab-Rocket? I’m sure you probably have. The infomercial, like almost every other late night TV ads, features a bunch of Ken and Barbie look-alikes with cheesy smiles, claiming how they got their 6 packs and flat-stomachs from using the Ab-Rocket. So does it really work or is it another one of those you toss add to your garage collection?

How does the Ab Rocket work?

The AbRocket features 3 resistance levels that you use to adjust the intensity of each workout. For about $100, you also get a workout DVD and a meal plan booklet as well. Now, it is possible to reduce the fat in your abs by simply using this machine? Well, not so simple. The fact is, no matter how many abdominal exercises you perform, if your overall body fat is already high, you cannot get the kind of flat abs that you long for. You will definitely get stronger abdominal muscles, or perhaps have a six-pack form if you work hard enough, but it’ll all be hiding under that layer of fat. The key is that you need to do exercises to help you get lean.

Now I have to say that the AbRocket is not entirely a waste of money. But there are some problems with the device that I think I should point out.

  1. As with many home workout machines, the machine may not fit you properly. You see, it’s very difficult for engineers and designers to make a machine that will fit everybody and is small enough to ship it to your house without costing you a fortune. It also needs to be small enough so that it doesn’t take up a lot of room since not everybody lives in a mansion.
  2. If you’re already doing sit-ups at home, then the resistance levels may not be enough for what you want. You are better off doing crunches then spending all the money on a machine that you are going to only use it for a few months.

How to use the Ab Rocket for best result?

But no of course, I don’t personally believe that this machine is a complete waste of money at the same time. Yes, even though the resistance is limited it doesn’t mean that you can burn some fat and get a good workout. It simply means that you’ll have to put it some more reps. I would recommended aiming for at least 50 reps, but not if you’re starting out of course. If you just bought the device, then gradually work your way up the intensity levels. Don’t move up the intensity until you can do at least 50 reps a set on a intensity level. It’s recommended you do something to keep your mind off while you’re doing the reps, such as watching TV or listening to the radio, since doing all those reps can get quite boring and painful after a while.

Ab Rocket with Diet Plan

Another important thing is that you need to watch what you’re eating. I suppose that’s why they threw in the meal plan as a bonus. You see, even if you’re doing 50 reps, but if you follow that by ordering a large order of KFC along with a side order of McCain’s frozen cake, then that’s not going to do you any good right? You definitely need to feed your muscles after an intense workout, so I would recommend following up your workout with a protein shake along with some fruits mixed in. That should take the hunger-pangs away.

Do your research before buy any ab machine

So in conclusion, like anything else, before you buy it, you need to do tons of research (well, no tons, but enough so that you can make an informed decision). If you don’t do the research, then you end up wasting more money and time, which leads to frustration and stress.

Even if it’s just $100, you need to think about the time you going to be wasting using the machine as well as having to get rid of it down the road. As well, it needs to be emphasized that no machines a complete piece of you know what. You cannot simply put the blame on a device.

Having a healthy and active lifestyle is not simply sinking a few hundred dollars, but means making the right decisions day-in and day-out about what you’re putting in your body and what you’re doing. If you decide to eat that cake and watch TV instead of eating that fruit and go outside for a nice walk, well then that one decision will result in other similar poor decisions which in turn leads to a unhealthy lifestyle. So before you sink $100 or so dollars in the AbRocket, try doing some proper crunches at home on a mat.
